12-18 June: free Code Name Verity audiobook with SYNC

As part of the 2014 SYNC title lineup, the marvellous audiobook of Code Name Verity, read by Morven Christie and Lucy Gaskell, is available free from 12-18 June 2014. It's aptly paired with the autobiographical The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, a wonderful story of resistance and faith in the Netherlands in World War II. The Hiding Place was my own introduction to the second World War; I read it over and over again from the time I discovered it at ten, and it inspired my earliest attempts at historical fiction set during this time.

Both titles can be downloaded by visiting SYNC here.

Petticoats & Pistols

I'm going to have a story included in Jessica Spotswood's new anthology, Petticoats and Pistols, which Candlewick Press has just acquired. The collection will be a bonanza of new historical fiction about amazing women. Mostly to be set in America, I believe. My story will almost certainly feature some flying! Details here
